Hi Grace, I cannot recall the name of the tomato farm. The other farm was Fords.

I’m looking at doing my 88 days in Bundaberg. What was the other farm you worked on after the cherry tomato farm? I’m trying to get it done soon and it’s been very hard to find any answers online. I know hostels only help if you stay with them but I have my own accommodation so it’s hard

Hi Marlene,

The majority of backpackers in Australia do not have experience of working on a farm. Every backpacker hopes to find work paid by the hour but a lot of work is paid per bucket/bin of produce you pick. There are plenty of hostels in Bundaberg, so you can always switch to a new hostel if you aren’t given a job paid by the hour. I was rarely paid by the hour, but earned enough money to cover the hostel, food and saved up for a car.

My problem is, that I have no experiences to work on a farm in Australia and it seems to be difficult. I had no luck to find a job on a farm, only with one farm “Bundy’s Best Backpackers”. They wrote me, that I would get a good paid job, after the three weeks on a cherry tomato farm. But I am afraid, that I will not get a job with money per hour and I have not enough money to pay everything by myself, I mean Hostel food and everything. Have you heard something about that hostel? Do you think I should risk it? I have only 5 months in Australia and not enough time to waste it.
