This circular walk in the Yorkshire Dales starts in the village of Grassington. The route includes Linton Falls, Kilnsey Crag and Conistone Dib. This route was voted in the top 100 of Britain’s Favourite Walks.
Linton Falls has a hydropower station. The power station opened back up in March 2012 after being closed since 1948. Linton Falls provides enough energy to power 90 family homes.

There are toilets at the car park and places to eat/drink in Grassington. There are no facilities on the route.
Start of the Grassington to Conistone Walk
Head to the back of the Grassington National Park Centre and continue through the wooden gate.
To continue the route, you need to cross the wooden bridge; however, it is worthwhile a visit down the River Wharfe before crossing the bridge. The views of Linton Falls are better from this side of the river.
Once you have returned and crossed the wooden bridge, turn right when you reach the end of the path.
Join the chalk path leading off to the right.
Go through the gate and turn right onto the main road.
Turn right onto Station Rd (B6265) crossing over the bridge.
Turn left just after the bridge, following the signpost for FP to Wood Lane via Low Grass Wood. The route follows the River Wharfe.
Keep right as the path splits in two.
Keep left at the next split in the path.
The path leads to Grass Wood Ln. Go through the gate and turn left onto the road.
There’s no designated footpath on Grass Wood Ln but there’s not much traffic.
Keep following the road, which leads to the left and crosses over the River Wharfe.
Just after the bridge crossing of the River Wharfe, pass through the gate and follow the signpost for Kilnsey Crag. You can see the crag in the distance.
From Kilnsey Crag, head back along the B6160 to the bridge over the River Wharfe.
Turn left over the bridge.
Turn left on the main road and bear right on the stoney path.
There are some rocks to climb up before you can continue the route.
The stoney path is quite steep. Most of the elevation of the walk is during this section.
Keep left as the grassed route splits in two.
Another rocky section to climb.
Cross through the wooden gate at Conistone Dib and continue along the route.
Go through the stile and continue following the signpost for Grassington.
You will pass a disused lime kiln.
Continue passing through the gates in the stone walls.
After crossing the final stile, the grassed route splits in two. Keep left.
Keep left again as the route splits in two.
Turn left onto Chapel Street as you return to Grassington.
At the end of Chapel Street, turn right onto Main Street.
At the end of Main Street, turn left onto Hebden Road. There is a sign for the Grassington National Park Centre.
