For 17 years the Humber Bridge was the largest suspension bridge in the world. The 2220-meter bridge spans the River Humber and connects Barton-upon-Humber with Hessle. Many charity walks are completed across the Humber Bridge and it’s a great challenge to complete for all levels of fitness abilities and age groups.
Starting the Humber Bridge Walk
The circular route can be started in Hessle, East Yorkshire, or Barton-upon-Humber, North Lincolnshire. The starting point in Hessle is the Humber Bridge Country Park and the starting point in Barton-upon-Humber is the Humber Bridge Park. Both starting points have a large car park and toilets.
Route
The circular walk entails walking on one side of the bridge and returning on the opposite side. The route has a good collection of sign posts and navigation is simple.

The Humber Bridge circular route is easily navigated.
Hessle Foreshore is a great place to relax after your walk (or halfway if you start in Barton-upon-Humber). There’s The Country Park pub for sit-down food and drink and often a snack bar selling light refreshments.

Equipment
The Humber Bridge circular walk is very gentle and no special equipment is required. A jacket may be needed as it is often windy once you are on the bridge.
