Notes
A challenging walk in some adverse conditions, wind and rain for most of the walk. 5 metre visibility on the top of Ingleborough.
Stayed at the Golden Lion Hotel in Horton in Ribblesdale. Food and accommodation was ok. Did get the chance to share experiences with others.
Pen y Ghent – a quick rise from the start, including some challenging rock steps to climb.
Whernside – a long walk too this summit, some new paths have been laid to help preserve the environment. After a number of uphill sections I was along the ridge. Be careful not to miss the summit post. Be careful of the route down, very tricky under foot
Pen y Ghent – after a brief walk to the foot of the hill you begin to climb. A steep climb up a never ending of natural and positioned steps. Heavy rain made the walk up beside a very beautiful waterfall. After some careful searching in dense fog I found the summit stone. The walk down to Horton was no mean feat.. tired knees and rock outcrops made it very challenging.
I very much enjoyed the 4 months of training to improve fitness and to maintain focus on a purpose. The walk itself was very rewarding and a great accomplishment. Tears of joy and
a great sense of achievement. Completing the challenge in 10.25hrs.
Future planning..
